Shazad Hashmi, M.D., DFAPA, Medical Director

Dr. Shahzad Hashmi serves as the Medical Director of SilverCare’s Geri-Psych Unit.


Dr. Hashmi received his medical degree from Dow Medical College in 1991. He served as Chief Psychiatry Resident at Howard University from 1999-2003. He then completed his Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Emory University in 2004. Since completing his Fellowship, he has served as Medical Director for multiple Geriatric, Adult and Adolescent Inpatient facilities, runs a successful private practice and provides top quality service throughout the State in both private and public behavioral health facilities.


Dr. Hashmi specializes in geriatric psychiatry and teaches medical students from top universities and training programs across the state. He is a leader in the psychiatry field and is a long-term Distinguished Fellow at the American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Hashmi has a person-centered approach to his patients and serves as a consultant to many other physicians across the State.  Dr. Hashmi founded a non-profit organization to assist patients who are not able afford quality psychiatric care within Internal Medicine Clinics to address chronic care concerns in which he was honored with the 2015 Circle of Hope Award for Compassionate Medicine. When not working, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Yogesh Goswami, M.D., Attending Psychiatrist 

Dr. Yogesh Goswami is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with expertise in adult and geriatric psychiatry in inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Goswami earned his Medical Degree from Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in India in 1991 and completed his residency at East Tennessee State University in 2006. Dr. Goswami has proudly served inpatient geriatric programs since 2012 in the role of attending psychiatrist along with ten- year service to community service boards in an outpatient role as a staff psychiatrist for those with severe and persistent mental illnesses.  


Dr. Goswami is a long-time member of the American Psychiatric Association as well as the Indo-American Psychiatric Association. Dr. Goswami earned the 2005 Outstanding Resident Teacher award along with the 2005 award for outstanding performance in the intensive outpatient program, excellence in work ethic with patients award at the VA Mental Health Clinic and recognition as a Role Model for Developing Biopsychosocial treatment formulation from East Tennessee State University. He enjoys photography, traveling and spending time with his family when not working with his patients.

Rena Castlin, FNP, PMHNP

Rena Castlin is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, with years of experience in inpatient and outpatient behavioral health programs. She was a nurse before obtaining her Nurse Practitioner education and certification. She has years of experience in many areas of nursing including ICU, L&D, ER, med-surg, trauma, oncology and mental health.


For the past 6 years, Rena has worked in pain management and at various inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities across Georgia. She has experience in assessing, diagnosing, educating, and treating mental health patients from ages 5-99. Rena is a proud member of the SilverCare team and brings a patient-centered approach to treatment and serves the whole person in the area of geriatric medicine.
